The foundation of all Earth Pan cookware is the unique SandFlow nonstick coating that originates from sand--used to manufacture kitchenware like glass and silicone bakeware. Based on industry lab tests, SandFlow nonstick surfaces are three times more durable than ceramic-based surfaces and they require 33 percent less energy to cure than traditional nonstick pans.

The SandFlow coating does not contain PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as the brand name Teflon) or PFOA (a key processing agent in making nonstick and stain-resistant materials, including Teflon)--both of which have raised health concerns in recent years.
